Paris St Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that he wants to leave the club to join Real Madrid. It is understood that Ancelotti has been made the firm favourite to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu once the club part ways with manager José Mourinho.
Ancelotti has been a manager in three different countries over the last decade. He has managed to win league titles in these three countries, while also lifting the Champions League trophy with AC Milan. However, his request to leave PSG has been denied by the owners of the French club.
Ancelotti recently led the club to their first league title for almost 2 decades, while they almost made it into the Champions League semifinals as well. The 53-year-old has said that he is still waiting for an answer from the owners. In a recent interview, the president of the club has said that Ancelotti still has one year left on his contract. Further, they also willing to keep him for much longer than his current contract. It is expected that they will offer a new deal in the hope of persuading Ancelotti to stay. Several PSG players have also said that they want their manager to stay at the club.
“I’ve asked to leave and I am waiting for their answer. There are possibilities. Real Madrid is one. But I have a contract here. We are going to wait for a response from the club, who are going to take a few days to decide,” said Ancelotti. “It is his problem; it is not our problem. We have offered him another year more on his contract as well as the one he has. When you have a contract, everyone is normally obliged to honour that,” said the club president. Sporting director Leonardo has also expressed his wish to keep Ancelotti.
