After the departure of José Mourinho in the summer, Real Madrid were expected to return to the passing style of football, which is the club is known for in its illustrious history.
The arrival of new manager Carlo Ancelotti was expected to aid in this regard. Ancelotti also noted this aspect when he took over. He said that he wanted his Real Madrid team to play from the back, but he has now said that he does not want to copy Barcelona. The passing style of Barcelona involves keeping the ball for long periods of time in the search of the perfect goal.
Ancelotti, though, tends to think otherwise when it comes to football tactics because he feels that there should be some type of counter-attacking football in the play as well. He has said that his players are already champions, and then do not need to string 30 passes in order to find the goal. Real Madrid have one of the most attacking line-up in the world right now. The presence of players like Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Isco make them very potent when it comes to attack. Real Madrid will be taking on Getafe at home in the next match.
They will be looking to bring an end to the Barcelona domination in the league.
“I’m Italian, and playing on the counter is a tactic I like. My players are champions. It should be automatic for them to score goals. They don’t need 30 passes to find a solution. You have to be ready to find that chance with three. I don’t doubt the quality of my players, but if they manage to score with three passes instead of 30, I can’t complain”, said Ancelotti ahead of the weekend’s match. Real Madrid are already trailing Barcelona by two points.
