It is thought that the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is extremely confident about getting Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric in the summer. Real Madrid have made it their main priority to get the Croatian midfielder, who was impressive with the Croatian national team at the Euro 2012.
They have been conducting discussions with Premier league club Tottenham over the last few weeks, although the two clubs are extremely way off when it comes to the negotiations. Still, it is thought that Florentino Perez has told his close friends that he is confident of sealing a deal for Luka Modric worth around £ 35 million.
It has to be noted that Tottenham rejected an offer of
around £ 40 million for the midfielder only last summer.
The 26-year-old then perform exceptionally during the season to help Tottenham finish in the fourth position, although they have been denied an opportunity to play the Champions League group stages as a result of Chelsea winning the title. This means that they will be unable to hold on to Luka Modric without Champions League football. The new Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is thought to have identified Moutinho as his replacement for Luka Modric, which will pave the way for the Croatian midfielder to move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid are not the only club in the race to sign the 26-year-old. French club PSG, who are close to completing a £ 55 million double deal for both AC Milan defender Thiago Silva and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, are also interested in the midfielder. Carlo Ancelotti tried to bring him to Stamford Bridge when he was the Chelsea manager, but failed in the attempts to do so. He will be hoping that the huge amount of money at his disposal will help him secure the signing of the 26-year-old.
