Barcelona have emerged as a serious contender for the signature of teen star Cesar Gelabert. In a twist of events the Blaugrana have now declared their interest in the highly rated academy product of their old rivals Real Madrid.
The youngster is in loggerhead with parent club Real Madrid over a long-term contract extension. The future of the player is uncertain, and Barcelona are watching the player’s contract issue with keen interest. The club is ready to make the move for the player as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
The teen prodigy will be out of contract next summer. He has attracted interest from hosts of top clubs across the continent. Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax are among the clubs to have declared interest in the player.
Manchester United have also registered an interest in the player. Olympiakos, Real Valladolid and Zaragoza are ready to make a loan approach for the player.
But the interest from the Catalan giant is gaining a huge momentum. They have made an inquiry about the player in 2015. Barca will offer the player a host of incentives in order for him to ditch Santiago Bernabeu for the Camp Nou.
It is very hard for a player to move from Madrid to Barca and one has to go back as far as 1996, when Luis Enrique left Madrid to join Barca. But the Blaugrana will still make the approach and tempt their eternal rival to do business.
Gelabert joined Madrid in 2015 from Hercules. He has made some appearances in the UEFA youth league, but he is yet to make any senior appearance for the club.
The number of established stars in the senior side will also make first team action very difficult to get for the player.
