Reigning European champions Real Madrid have announced the signing of French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The Spaniards made the announcement on their website on Saturday. Tchouameni has signed for Real Madrid from AS Monaco in the French top flight.
22-year-old Tchouameni is the second signing of the summer after German defender Antonio Rudiger. Real Madrid have moved to strengthen their team with quality players despite winning the Champions League at the end of last month. Real Madrid won the Champions League for the recently concluded season by beating Premier League club Liverpool in the final.
Brazilian star Vinicius Junior scored the winner as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the final to their first Champions League trophy in four years. The Brazil international scored a minute from the hour mark to give Real Madrid a remarkable win over the Reds.
Real Madrid confirmed the free transfer signing of German centre back Antonio Rudiger some days after their Champions League triumph to make him their first signing of this summer’s transfer window. Rudiger will leave Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of this month thus paving the way for him to join Real Madrid.
While Real Madrid didn’t spend a transfer fee to sign Rudiger, they are spending a lot of money for Tchouameni. Trusted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said Real Madrid will pay an initial fee of €80m plus €20m in add-ons to take the deal to the €100m mark. He also said that a six-year deal has been signed and the player will have his medical test on Tuesday. Also, the French international will be unveiled as a new Real Madrid player on the same day.
Tchouameni is one of the most exciting young defensive players in the world of football. He won the Young Player of the Year in the French top flight this season.
